There is a trick to shadow boxes which I still don't know but at least this one doesn't buckle. I have posted this to the gallery but most things I post never show up so if this file is useful to someone grab it here. Most of the pieces came from the gallery; horses were a google image.

@Penny designing is fun. My big problem is changing my mind and not having saved all the bits and pieces. That causes me no end of lost time. One of these days I might remember to save before joining and welding and all that. LOL.

Nice card Bev - I see you added spiky grass. When I designed my tunnel cards I used pcs to line the segments up for visualization, but then I moved the panels to MTC for cutting. I also added some foam tape between the panels - probably not necessary for your shadow box card

@leslie6111 I remembered reading a while back that you always start your tunnel cards in pcs but I didn't (still don't) really understand it. Do you mean you make the basic shape, then shadow them or something to get the smaller openings? The foam tape between layers is a grand idea, especially near the tops of the larger layers. They get awful floppy.

Well you can actually see the layers when they are top of each other if you place them on different planes in pcs. That helps with orienting the elements. Although you cannot node edit in pcs, you can do everything else. I would go back and force between MTC and PCS with the elements for the planes and edit or shadow them as I needed. Sometimes I would make something in MTC and move it over to PCS and sometimes I could just as well make something with a basic shape in pcs. The crop tool is real handy in pcs and MTC doesn't have it the same.

@leslie6111 Can't wait to try your method of tunnel boxes. Now I understand how pcs would show the different layers more easily then stacking them on top of each other in mtc and always having to hide or show individual layers.
@yup I don't know about "talented". I get myself in so much trouble because I am a landscape painter (or was before I got addicted to paper cutting) and keep trying to do the same thing with paper.

@Charo, a couple of suggestions. You can add pages to your MTC projects as you work. So you can add a page, copy all the bits and pieces to it and then go back to work. If you make major changes, you can then save the file and be confident that the earlier versions have been saved along with it.

Another thing that is helpful is to include your MTC Gallery ID number when you post a new file you've made. That makes it easier for people to search for your documents. Pardon me if you have the ID number in your signature file as I have signatures turned off so I do not normally see them.

Good suggestions @Gabe. Have added Member ID. So do pages help with memory issues at all? On this cake thing I am using textures and I do know for a fact that textures slow down my computer in a big way. How do folks store textures anyway? Do you delete them after use as they just continue to take memory maybe?

I would say that adding pages to a project will require more memory. Which would mean that adding pages would not help a computer with memory issues. One clumsy away around that would be to use a screen shot utility, such as the Snipping Tool, to take a snapshot of your screen. Then make a folder on your computer for your MTC project and store the snapshots in the folder with the project and any texture files. You can use the snapshots to refresh your memory of what you've done, but the actual bits and pieces wouldn't be saved to the snapshot or the project.

@Gabe thanks for the info; more good ideas. My computer doesn't have a memory problem....lots of free space. But when adding textures to MTC files, MTC crashes a LOT. From various posts I've read I thought that meant Windows 10 just doesn't like all the pieces. Even opening a MTC file with textures is much slower than opening files without textures. I am going to snip and save the ideas as you suggested as I really do think the textures are going to cause me serious problems. Thanks again.

I love your horse shadow box photo. I've not used MTC for so long that I don't remember how to bring each layer up in order to cut each one. Can someone help me? Thanks and take care, Jay

@ilovedessert Click on the eye at the bottom right and switch all off. Now on the right side panel just click on the layer you wish to cut and open the eye. Close and then do the next one.

Go for hide all and then go to the individual layers and click on the eye to cut that layer. Click on it again after you have cut that layer to turn it off again. That way only the layer that is on the screen will cut and the other layers will stay quiet.
