Selecting parts of a file

How do I select several objects, but not all? I want to use rachellann's file for folding cards/bags, but want them all to have hearts. I was hoping to copy the bag with the heart, open a new file, copy and paste to get as many as I could fit....but can't figure out how to select/copy just the shapes for that bag and keep them all together.

go to edit select all , then break click on the mat that deselect all strat at the bottm corner hold down the left mouse button you will see a blue box staritng as you move your mouse drag it to what you want to remove right click and delete do this for all that you dont want . for the heart you want you should be able to click on it and a red box will apear and right click copy and then paste move each new heart to where you want it select all and then join. I'm sure scrappydew has a video of how to do this to. she's very good at the videos

Thanks! I did it, but think I went through more steps than necessary. When I copied and pasted, my paste was tiny, so I had to stretch it. I have a page/mat with four cards....they may be an 1/8 inch different, but I think they'll be fine for what I want. Thanks!

are you using paste button or the one that looks like a clipbord with the arrow pointing down , the one with the arrow should give you the size you copied

neither....but, I'll use that next time...I used my mouse (right click, menu, magic, etc, etc, etc).....I had a feeling it took much longer than it would have if I'd known what I was doing...
