Can the Roland gx24 be used to cut letters thru mat board. Daughter has hobby lobby cut names out of matboard and put pics behind them.

@Inkslinger - welcome to the Make The Cut! software forum! Do you use MTC with your Roland?

From an info page about your cutter:

Maximum cutting media thicknessup to .04 in (1 mm)

So the answer is dependent on how thick your mat board is. The other factor would be how dense it is. So a good test is to take the blade holder out with the blade you are going to use and make cuts into the media, in a slashing motion the way a drag cutter would cut. See how many times you need to cut through (if the cutter can support the thickness). You will likely only be able to do simple cuts, not detailed cuts.
Still using MTC but slowly migrating to SCAL. KNK cutters including the Force and Maxx Air continue to be my favourites. Fluent in other cutter languages.

Also, any time you cut a material that does NOT have a backing sheet, such as mat board, the material must be pressed down to a sticky cutting mat so that it will be properly stabilized for cutting.
