make the cut features not working

ritreritre Member Posts: 34
haven't used MTC recently, but found that some of the features are no longer in existence. noticed that there are no longer any options to change the mat color, feature for snapping is gone and can't even creating a straight line by depressing shift or control -- can't remember which button.  I have surecutsalot, but, mtc had a lot of options that I actually used.  also used it to trace files for PCS.  really sad.  I know that @Andy moved on but its sad that he left everyone hanging.  I really had mad respect for his programming skills and his tenacity, but, his not putting out a statement as to what the status of MTC is or what it will be shows that he is not responsible.  Many people stayed loyal to his creation, but he couldn't stay loyal to those who made MTC what it became.

@ritre - I cannot replicate any of the issue you report, so its you not MTC.

    - to change mat colour, make sure the Main Toolbar is visible, click View and check off Main

    - to enable Snapping, that is also on the Main Toolbar

    - to draw a straight line choose the Pencil icon on the View -> Node Mode, hold CTRL and click and drag to draw straight line

Yes we have all cried a river over Andy's not keeping up with MTC. It's sad, but it is what it is and we can't change it. You've gone on to SCAL, but MTC is still viable UNTIL such time as when Windows does not support 32 bit programs. Then it's gone.

Adding on to what @Liz_A posted. The only features no long working in MTC 4.6.2 are the online Gallery, the Lettering Delights access and some of the Help features. I continue to maintain my MTC support page with links to user manuals, videos, the software and plugins, and misc tutorials.  Below is a link to that.  Otherwise, post back if you find anything else not working and we'll help you with it, just as was done in this thread.

Also, make sure you have your registration number (the long one that begins with MTC) backed up in a VERY safe place. That's one thing I can't help you with.

thank you @Liz_A and thank you @SandyMcC you were correct.  I have no idea why my main tool bar was hidden (although it was selected).  It was barely peeking out on the left side of my layers menu.  but, I am thankful it is there! and @Andy, I do apologize if I came at you harsh, I know that you are an incredible and gifted programmer.  I love the program, its just that after the online content disappeared and the make-the-cut website (opening page) disappeared, and I couldn't find my main toolbar, I was feeling that everything was collapsing.  As long as the program is functional, its all good.  for me, although I use surecutsalot, it is not my software of choice -- mtc is really a great program!

I know how you feel, ritre. I absolutely ADORE this program. I have played around with SCAL. I'm an old dog; I guess! This forum is wonderful. I wish more people would participate; like the old days! At least it does still work. And we do have some awesome people to help us...old dogs!

@DreamStreetRose - we do need to brace ourselves for the day when this all disappears, as everything else has. :(

As much as Facebook gets bad press, it IS where you will find other MTC users and a LOT of crafters and small businesses using cutters. Depending on which groups and how many groups you join, you will find as many postings as you want to see in any given day!  Trust me!  lol

So, if you REALLY miss seeing what people are making and showing off your own projects, or reading questions and answers, think about setting up a Facebook account. It's free, you can make up a name if you don't want to use your own, but  it needs to sound like  a really name.  And then control what you post and what groups you join.  You don't ever have to post on your own Timeline.  Just join some of the groups and read others' posts. Let me know if you need help finding the groups where Liz, Di-Lite, Crazy Mr. Zing, Gabe, Julie, etc. all hang out.

Otherwise, take note of my web site in my signature below in case this forum is just not here one day and you want to know what options you still have. For as long as I'm alive, I will have my site open and I will help people.
