Why is Knife Blade not cutting all the way through?

Hi, I just got a cricut maker and I haven been trying to cut balsa wood on it but It doesn't cut all the way through. My knife blade is new and the balsa wood I have been using is 2.4mm thick. The machine seems to be only cutting up to half of the way. I tried to do additional cuts, which didn't work, and also used a craft knife to finish the job by myself, but because it was still half way to be cut, it didn't work as well and destroyed my art project.

So what is the problem, as I am following all the requirements regarding using the right blade, setting up the machine properly and using the thickness limit allowed?

I forgot to mention, I am trying to cut out names.

Thanks, A.

This isn't a Cricut group but rather a support group for Make the Cut software.  But I recall seeing a project cut from rather thick balsa (or basswood) or Facebook using a Maker and I believe she had to use at least 10 passes?  So, assuming your blade has a long enough cutting edge to penetrate 2.4 mm, you might want to just try more and more passes.  Or... instead of listening to a non-Maker owner like me,  find a Cricut forum or FB group and ask there.  :)
