Hi everyone. I need some help here. I recently come across some webpage that offers cool printable PDF files. Is there any way I can print and cut those pdf files with MTC?

Yes. However, without having one of the actual files myself, I cannot give you instructions because PDF files can be made up of vector images, raster images and a combination of both. Sometimes the vector images have duplicated lines (one cut line on top of another copy of the same line).

That being said, MTC will import all types of PDF files using File>Import. Before clicking on OK, however, check the bottom of the import window. If you see a blue Notice message, that means there are raster images for sure and they will need to be imported separately.  You can click on that Notice to have the PDF moved to the Trace window.

Maybe post a link to this site and we can help you further, if needed.

Thank you for the reply. Here's a sample of the free project.

Not sure if this link works or not. Let me know if it doesn't.

@sidniy - you will get just the vector shape of things you will not get the raster gradient colours within the shapes:

You will have to do a bit of a work around to make this a print and cut if that is what you wanted.

When I import pdf file that's what I get. What I want is able to print out the raster gradient colours and then cut it with knk Maxx air. So what should I do? Thank you in advance.

When there is raster data in a pdf mixed with vector, you will see this text in blue:

Usually this lets you use a different method to get the file in MTC. However in the file that you posted, MTC won't import it at all. There is something wrong with the data.

I tried opening the file in SCAL, it comes in with some very funky colouring.

AH!!! The Kagisippo popups!  I've downloaded those plus bought a few of them and they are a PITA to get prepared for a cut!  I had to use KNK Studio so that I could select by colors and have better node editing control. A LOT of the lines and shapes are doubled, so that had to be cleaned up and a lot of the fold lines were all individual and not connected and that drove me nuts. I probably spent at least 2 - 3 hours editing every one that I did get converted.  As I recall, I also exported the raster parts back out of KNK Studio to imported into SCAL.  I don't recall doing this snowflake file. But I did convert maybe 4 of the ones I bought. I just got burned out on them and then realized I needed to be working on something that actually pays money.  lol

@Crazy_Mr_Zing oh wow! Thank you so much. That's quite an effort there. I'll try it out. Hopefully I don't get lost.
@SandyMcC yes! Kagisippo I love his popup. I bought a few and yeah lot of work to be done before cutting it. So far I've only bought those with no prints. This is the free file from the web. I guess the paid files for printable design are pretty much the same with this one, maybe?

@Crazy_Mr_Zing this as far as I can get. i don't know how to white fill the object.

    I'm stuck here

    -Hold Shift
    - make the image trace visible and also select the trace
    - some now with the snowflake shape group and the image trace select Click Join and the Break

as for the line in the circle below, aren't they get cut as well ?

i just realize inscape is a wonderful  tool. I guess I have to spend time learning inscape. even MTC took me awhile . lol!

Good luck!  I'll see if I converted any of the free ones. I have mine in SCAL and KNK format however.

cool! looking forward to your converted files.

It appears that I converted 4 of them. Even if I bought some of them, if you show me your receipt for also buying them, I'll be happy to share the SCUT5 file.

I have the loving swan and swan, but I can't find the receipt anywhere. not even in my email. Or maybe i forgot what the mail looks like. I tried searching 'swan' and 'kagisippo' on my inbox and nothing comes out. I bought them before he moves his digital files to etsy. I remembered he doesn't sale his art work and then slowly he starts to sell some of his design.  I quite sometime ago. I still have the digital file though. Any how, I'll try to find my receipt.
