shadow cursor

I have been experiencing trouble moving the shadow cursor.   it makes a small shadow, but when I try to make it a little bigger it does not move, then when I get it to move I end up with a much wider shadow than I would like.  I don't think it's my mouse because it was doing it before and I just got a new mouse and keyboard.  I am normally using it to make shadows around letters.  It almost feels like the cursor is stuck, which seems strange.   Any suggestions?  thanks.

@dargus - you can change the values of the Shadow Width by clicking in that little box, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to go up or down, or just straight type what you want. That's how I use that field.

To follow up on what @Liz_A wrote, when you use the up/down Shadow Width arrow buttons in the Generate Shadow Layer window, the changes are SO small with each tap that you're won't see any significant change.  That's why it's usually easier to just enter an actual number versus a tap/tap/tap, wait for preview update.  Just type in a larger size instead.

Here's a video on the Shadow funtion which might help:  https://vimeo.com/77041649
