Black Cat Cougar Cub

eiriseleirisel Member Posts: 1
I bought a black cat cougar cub 18in cutter from my neighbor. It has to the information required to contact the folks who sent it and get the drivers. After contacting them they said they machine has not been produced since 2011 and no longer support it. ... How else can I download some drivers for this? And why would I buy any machine if after 8 or less years they stop supporting them?
Thank you!!

@eirisel - at the risk of sounding snotty, did you not do any research before making your purchase? I wouldn't expect much in the line of support for an 8 year old, most manufacturers bring out new ones every year or 18 months. In the cutter world, brands come and go. ProvoCraft recently stopped supporting all their cutters prior to 2015 or something like that. There are few guarantees or requirements in law for companies to support products they make, especially if the manufacturers or businesses go out of business.

That said, you can download the FTDI driver which is what is needed, that is a 3rd party product and is still in business.

To get the plugin that you use with this cutter and Make The Cut! you download that here: http://www.make-the-cut.com/Download.aspx

Use the Klic-N-Kut plug-in (NOT the Zing one) instead of the Black Cat Cougar plug-in because the Klic-N-Kut plug-in has more advanced features and it works with the blackcat and silverbullet cutters.
Still using MTC but slowly migrating to SCAL. KNK cutters including the Force and Maxx Air continue to be my favourites. Fluent in other cutter languages.

Are you planning to use Make The Cut for cutting?  If so, then the following user manual will help you learn what you need to do because the Black Cat and KNK Maxx are almost identical:
