Hi Guys and Girls,

for those of you who use the Eclipse Blade Holder, and this is a verified purchase, this shop on Amazon.co.uk has a pack of blades, 30/45/60 Degree Blades Cemented Carbide for Cutting Plotter Pack Of 15 for the totally ridiculous price of £7.31 with free delivery.

I have a set, arrived on Saturday, came from China and took 1 week to arrive. Have tested one of the blades, and in all honesty, although I have recently adjusted my Eclipse blade holder, I have had the cleanest cuts I have ever had, and I do have Roland blades as well, super impressed and have now ordered 2 additional packs, well a Girl can never have too many blades now can she?
One question though anyone have any idea what the offset for the 30 and 60 degree blades are?

To anyone who buys these blades, Please note these blades are SHARP!!!! Normally I would use 140/160 for centura Pearl Cardstock, you know how thick and tough it is, but with this blade try using less than 100 force, you might be surprised! force of 95 of Centura Pearl cardstock at 350gsm!!! Happy Dance!

Thanks for sharing. What is "cemented" carbide? I know what carbide is, but the cemented part is something I've never heard of. Is that a non-native speaker poor translation? Or?

I have only tried Eclipse blades once and got terrible cuts with them. I don't know if they are shorter or what, but no nice clean cuts as I have with the "bug" blades that I had tons of. I use them with the Eclipse holder in my Zing. What has been your experience with them? Do you change the settings?

I never got my Zing blade holder and blade to cut right, I got the second batch of the Zings and it should have been an ok blade, but it never cut right, so I switched right away to the eclipse so I could use the bug blades I already owned.

I have used roland blades in the eclipse blade holder with good results. Hope to have good results with these blades I just ordered.

@Gardendog, I have adjusted my eclipse blade holder following instructions on here somewhere, so that my lowest setting allows my blades to protrude enough for thin paper, 90gsm, but I have beautiful cuts at the moment, and I have done quite a bit of cutting this week, lol

I go though blades like crazy as i cut ceramic paper for glass casting. Do you think these might work with a zing? Ive bought about 20 blades for my zing machines. Thank you!!!

@Simmer, these blades will work in the eClips blade holder but not in the Zing blade holder. But you can definitely use the eClips blade holder in the Zing.

This is what I learned from being a precision machinist for 10 years. Carbide is much harder than plain steel. Since cutter blades are so small, manufacturers who want to add carbide have to cement a tiny bit of sharpened carbide to the cutting area of the blade. This will make the blade last longer and also cut tougher materials much easier. Even so, carbide will eventually get dull and then it must be tossed and replaced with a new blade as there is no way to sharpen it. On the other hand, isn't that what we all do with our dull steel blades anyway? LOL!

I still have some roland blades from ElkinCreek Vinyl.It takes over 2 1/2 weeks for me to get something from China and ElkinsCreek is so much faster. But I will try them out the next time I needs blades.
