Yes, I have been busy... trying out my gel pen holder and a new digi stamp I downloaded. Need to figure out how to get a shadow around it so I can cut it out. Also need to start looking for more digi stamps.. think this is going to be addicting. LOL

oh, I just did select all and Shadow layer to get the shadow around mine. Be forewarned though it will cut the shadow first, then you'll have to pause, put in Amy's gel pen holder, then restart to get the "inside". At least that's how it worked on mine.LOL

Here is my first one http://make-the-cut.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=3830 I'm gonna have to practice my coloring.LMBO

Christy, can't you "hide" the shadow layer and let it draw the inside first, then hide the inside and let it cut the shadow?

I haven't tried drawing yet (still have to buy those holders from Amy) but I was thinking that would be the way to do it??? If it isn't, what's the best way????
Is this where I'm supposed to say something clever?

Well, I don't think that works at least it didn't for me.LOL I did do that once but here's the problem with that. If you do it that way when you draw it and then it's done you are gonna have to reload the mat to get it to cut again. Even when I didn't touch the mat and just hit the unload/reload button it didn't line up perfectly. I was a bit concerned about cutting before drawing but I just used a fairly new mat so it was pretty sticky and didn't have a minutes problem.

    Christy,

You shouldn't have to load/unload the mat. Since you are using a software program, it is telling the Cricut where to cut. Just leave the mat alone after you have drawn your image, change to the blade and then hide the details, show the shadow, and hit cut. It should still cut in the right place, if you didn't move your design in the software.

The reason you don't want to unload the mat and reload it is because if it is even a little bit off from where it was loaded before, it will be off. If you hold the mat and help "push" it into the rollers, it won't load EXACTLY the same each time, or the rollers may not grab it exactly the same way each time. So just leave your mat in the machine, draw your image, change the holder, then hide/show what you want next, hit cut and it should be fine. Don't hit any other buttons on the machine itself, until you are completely finished drawing and cutting.

I haven't tried this yet, but it "SHOULD" work this way. But then PC doesn't always work the way it SHOULD.
