KNK zing or Silver Bullet?

Hello all! I'm new here and hoping you can help me decide on a new die cutting machine.

I make and sell party banners using my original silhouette cameo. I'm way over due for an upgrade but I can't decide between the Silver Bullet or the KNK ZING 15. I was originally interested in the force but have been told it could be months before they are available again.

At this point I will strictly be using the machine for cutting 80-100lb cardstock, mostly glitter. I've had many issues using my cameo and I think the extra cutting force would be extremely helpful. Any feedback is appreciated! :)

Whichever you decide on, you can probably find a used one in good condition on a Facebook group called Used Craft Cutters For Sale.

Glitter card stock is generally not recommended to be cut with any cutter, especially on a regular basis as it can get into the cutter parts and is very hard on the blades.  Is this what you have been cutting with your silhouette cameo?

Do you do any print and cut applications as part of your business?  Also, approx how many hours per day is your cutter cutting? Do you already own/use Make The Cut or Sure Cuts A Lot?

    Hello,

I do not do print and cut. I would say 3-4 hours. I do not use make the cut or sure cuts a lot. I use the silhouette software.

With either the SB or a KNK model, you'll need to buy either MTC or SCAL for cutting. I would recommend SCAL since it's still being updated regularly.  I also recommend you consider the 15" Maxx Air.  If you were doing print and cut applications, then it would be different because the Maxx Air, like the Silver Bullet only offers manual registration.  The Zing Orbit has automatic registration, like your Cameo.  But, again, that's not relevant in your case.

The Maxx Air is made at the same Chinese factory as the Silver Bullet and the two are extremely close to being the same machine. The Maxx Air has over 1500g of cutting force (compared to 1000g on the Zing Orbit) so a bit stronger for production cutting. It has a control panel (the Zing Orbit does not) which allows easier setting of the origin before cutting, as well as a repeat button.  It also comes with bolt-on metal flatbed tables which provide a very solid flat surface for pressing your material onto the mat and keeping the mat horizontal for cutting.

If you have any questions about the Maxx Air, please do post! I think it's a great choice for your particular application. Here's a link to see the product listing: https://knkusa.com/product/15-klic-n-kut-maxx-air/
