Do you think you will come out with a plugin for the Titan 3? I soooooo love your program, but had to upgrade my MH series and bought a Titan 3. Thank you for such a wonderful and easy to use program!!!

I am so sad. I like my new cutter, but hate the software. I would be willing to buy a new version for the Titan 3. Sure Cuts A Lot has one for the Titan, but I don't care for their software either. I absolutely love the simplicity of MTC. I've tried importing my MTC designs into Mastervinyl, but so far no luck. :'(

I've also tried wireframe, but not sure if the Titan is print spooler supported. How do you find out?

@Realred - maybe approach the developers of Mastervinyl and get them to improve their support for SVG files.

I honestly don't see the difference now between MTC and SCAL.  It's always tough migrating from ANY vector program you like to ANOTHER vector program. Having written UM's now for both programs, I can certainly identify pros and cons with both. Can you elaborate more on what you do not like about SCAL?

SandyMcC, I'm really not that familiar with SCAL it's the Vinylmaster that I hate. The version they give you with the machine is sooooo limited, but it won't let me download a demo to see if it's worth upgrading. They have a 50% off for upgrade. I have figured out how to export and import designs from MTC, but when Vinylmaster goes to cut the design it cuts to the edge of the material. Which is ok of you're not cutting to overlap and are using registers to line things up. I'm wasting vinyl like I did when I first started this business. LOL

I'm going to take a closer look at SCAL. It's got to be better than Vinylmaster. Thanks all for your input. I just so LOVE MTC. It does everything I need it to the way I need it to. Guess I'm just an old foggy set in my ways. LOL

So I tried to download a demo of SCAL vs4 and it installed it, but when I tried to go into the program it said my trial version had expired. I'm about to cry. LOL

That usually means that at some point in the past you had previously downloaded and ran the SCAL trial.  Once that trial period expires, you cannot run it anymore without buying it.  So, if you have previously done so, that is the issue.  If you haven't, you need to reach out to SCAL tech support for help.  Even if you have, if you reach out to them, they may be able to help you run it again - if you explain to them what you are wanting or need to do.  Doesn't hurt to ask them.  Unlike MTC's, the "trial period" for SCAL is very short - just a few days as I recall so be sure you have the time to devote to giving it a go before activating the trial of their software.

Thank you MeFlick. That is probably what happened. I did send a support ticket to SCAL and as far as I can see there are still things in MTC that are not in SCAL. Conical wrap being one of them. Also, if I'm going to have to spend $200 to get ALMOST what MTC offers, I'd rather pay it to MTC, but alas. :( I guess I could always buy the v4 of SCAL and upgrade to pro at another date and time if needed. Thanks everyone for your help and input. It is always nice to get a fresh view on a problem from people who know this business.

@Realred - I see that you have used an MH cutter previously, and you are using Make The Cut!. I also looked on the USCutter website, and compared the specifications between the Titan and MH series cutters. The lowest level of MH supports both DM-PL and HP/GL plotter languages, while the model of Titan that I looked at only supports HP/GL. This might be why you cannot cut through the print function, although I am not quite sure if you have tried that - what happens or not happens?? To find out if the cutter supports cutting through the print spooler, you could ask on the USCutter website. They also have live chat, so another opportunity to get your questions around the cutter and its packaged software (Vinylmaster) answered as they are not directly supported here.

Inkscape supports some cutters and I see that something called Inkcut is available, you can see here:

    https://inkscape.org/sk/news/2011/03/16/meet-inkcut-vinyl-cutter-and-vectors-plotter/

Also I see that SCAL is available from the USCutter website although not sure if you have to have the Pro version to cut with your cutter. All the cutters that are on this list (including your Titan) are supported in the regular version:

    http://craftedge.com/products/products_scal.html

So maybe you don't need to buy from USCutter as they only list the Pro version, buy direct from Craftedge and just get the regular version of SCAL for cutting, you can still continue to use MTC for designing, export as SVG and bring into SCAL for cutting.

Hope some of these suggestions are helpful.

Conical warp is called "Wrapper" in SCAL. It's in the Effects menu.  I have a blog post that covers both programs in case you want to read it: http://www.iloveknk.com/2017/06/mtc-vs-scal-which-is-better-for-you/
