Web Location to Just Type in Desired Fonts

A while back someone posted a discussion about a web site where one could go to just type in something in a desired font....in other words one does not have to download and save the font in MTC.  Of course I can't find it now; does anyone remember this?  I'm bummed about losing tons of fonts and even worse having to save so many of them on my computer.

Ignore this please.  I found it under Cool Sites and it wasn't quite as I remembered; it only uses fonts on one's computer.  Useful but not for a person who deleted her best fonts; grrr.

@Charo - perhaps a tip for future reference. I keep extra copies of my Downloads folder. I have a copy of my Downloads folder going back to 1999. =) So if I were to lose a program or have to rebuild a computer, I can go to my downloads folder to find the install files. This would include all the fonts I have downloaded =). Every once in awhile I have to purge that folder on my computer, but I have a copy of it elsewhere. Hope that helps.

The second most important thing to have a copy of is emails with software keys or download links to things you have purchased online, eg svg files, etc. Back those up somewhere else as well.

@Liz_A Downloads file going back to 1999! Wow.  But if I had been doing that I would have my lost fonts wouldn't I.  I wonder about the size of YOUR MTC svg file!  Thanks Liz.  I will get both these suggestions going.

Excited that I came across this post.  I really needed this I never even thought about posting it here.  Am heading straight there.

If you DO want to see what a particular font looks like in the lettering of your choice, there are free font organizers/viewers that will let you select any font on your computer whether or not its installed. You do have to download and extract the fonts, but again you don't have to install them and they can be located on any drive attached to your computer.  I use AMP Font Viewer:
