Black cat cougar not feeding vinyl straight

ddm00767ddm00767 Member Posts: 9
Hi everybody

Dug out the cougar after having it on the shelf for this very reason. It will not feed the vinyl straight!

I have a straight edge lined up, laser orientation point set, vinyl on roll feeding straight from back, presser feet on red marks. I run it through with the feeder and most times it runs crooked. What am i doing wrong, please?

Thank you for any help!

One question - do you have the vinyl pulling from the roll or do you have enough slack material to allow it to fully travel through the cutter without pulling against the momentum of the roll?  Any resistance will cause the material to skew.

Most likely, you THINK you have the vinyl loaded straight but it's a very small, not-visible angle that results in larger offsets with distance. Trust me... this is a known issue I handle multiple times per year.

The best approach is to feed forward half the length of your project first. Then, feed forward the remainder so you can see if it's feeding straight or not. Note this is all done using the Control Panel on the BC itself. Use the ruler on the front of the cutter to watch the right hand edge to see if it's deviating and then, when needed, lift the pinch wheels and straight up the material. Once it appears to be feeding straight, run it all back to the front again to set the origin, again watching to see if it's still straight.
