Zing and Mtc software

Mary212Mary212 Member Posts: 1,503
This may have been answered before.  Is Make The Cut proprietary software, or will other. Cutting software work with it?   Of course,  Mtc is the best, just wondering if there might be something easier.

There are a couple of other programs that will work with the Zing.  It's just that the Zing was designed from day 1 to interface with MTC.  However, Sure-Cuts-Alot aka SCAL is probably the best choice for an alternate software.  It has been upgraded so it works with the Zing and Zing Air.

I have never used SCAL.  Never downloaded the trial, never seen the software.  But it does have the endorsement of SandyMcC, the guru of all things KnK.

If you ask me, I would say that MTC is the best software for the Zing or Zing Air.  And it is very easy to learn, thanks to Sandy's excellent user manuals, plethora of videos and helpful posts on this very forum.  And not just SandyMcC will help you on this forum.  There are a lot of people who enjoy helping those who are new to MTC or are experiencing a problem and need a little advice.  I have heard that SCAL also has a support forum, but my guess is that it can't possibly be as helpful as this one.  Just one guy's opinion though.  :)

I also manage a group that provides MTC and PCS help to people who use Facebook.  You can find my group here:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/MTCandPCS/

Nor is my group on Facebook the only one.  SandyMcC has several, such as the KNK & Zing Users group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/KNKZing/

And Nan Sherman also has a great group called MTC Users:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/MTCusers/

So, you can see, there is a lot of support for MTC available.

Thanks for the information Gabe.  Have never used facebook much, but will go see what those sites are like.  Anything Sandy does is excellent and on spot helpful.  I do miss when all the action was here though.  It was like friends sitting around the table chatting and sharing and inspiring one another.   Some of that still goes on, not so much anymore.

I am so glad you, Sandy and Mr_Zing are here willing to help us.  Am sure there are others too, but not sure who they might be.   Thank goodness for the wonderful manual and supplemental videos.  I love MTC and my Zing, just have to get back in there and get going again.

SCAL is the same as MTC in terms of learning how to use. They are the easiest of all vector programs, in my opinion.  If I were you, I'd stick with MTC unless you buy a Mac.

@SandyMcC, thanks for the advice.   I sort of. Remember a lot of when I worked with it before.  Will work through manual and all the great videos and see how it goes.  :)

Look forward to seeing what you get up to once you are back up to speed.  It's only quiet because so many now know what they are doing and forget to pop back in - I'm sure we can liven it up again.

@Di-lite, I am sure anything I would make would be pretty simple.  Will take baby steps for a while.  My goal is to be able to make pretties to add to cards.  If my old computer will cooperate, who knows, just might get sometning done.
