@mp35160 - you'll need to review the terms and conditions of using the website for your cutter. Here is a link that explains things:

Note that you have stumbled across the forum for Make The Cut! software, and it does not support your cutter.

Be careful about using Cricut fonts in your design, because you will be charged for those. Any piece of the design that you did not upload as SVG will cost you money. Also, if the Free designs are free one week, and you use them that week, and then try to use the design when they are no longer on sale, you will have to pay for them. If you have an Access membership, not all designs are free, but most are. However, if you cancel your membership and try to use files you saved with them, you will have to pay. You don't own anything you use with the membership, as it is more like a rental. When your membership expires, the designs you created and saved in Design Space will cost you money unless you renew. Personally, I purchase the designs if I must have them. Then there is no expiration. I don't purchase much, though.

OMG! I had no idea this sort of thing was being "pulled off" by Cricut now.  Do their underhanded greedy methods never end?  Why would anyone want these kinds of restrictions when there are SO many other options?

This is the very reason why MTC exists, and I am sure SCAL too. What a rip off! I knew that new CEO was just as conniving as the owners of PC.

This is not new. But those new to Cricut may not beware of this disguised "rental" policy. I can create files in Cricut Design Space and save them there, but I make sure that I own any images that I use, and I use only fonts that are on my computer. I can save my creations to their cloud, but I cannot save them anywhere else unless I capture and trace in MTC. I have even had some designs that i created disappear from the cloud, never to be retrieved again. Lesson learned. Create in MTC and store that or the exported SVG on my computer where I can access and share it if I want to.

@juliefes, in light of how Cricut treated Andy, I'm shocked that you, of all the people here, would give Cricut five minutes of your time!

You know, I wonder that, too.

Unfortunately, when Cricut did what they did, they left a LOT of people abandoned. These are people who need what Make The Cut has to offer. I serve thousands of these people in my MTC_Tuts group who need help and support to make the most of their cutters and MTC that they purchased, and to lead them towards making better choices when the opportunity arises. I decided not to discriminate against people and their cutter choices, and simply to serve them as I am able. Needing to provide the best support, and being naturally curious, I have checked out the free Cricut Design Space, and found it severely lacking. Now I can answer questions honestly from my own personal experience. Even with the new software update, I still find their software to be unacceptable for my purposes. And without acceptable software the cutter is useless. Just my 2 cents worth.

In my opinion Cricut Expression “One” was the best cutter I’ve had until now but their software never worked for me too. This is because I still use MTC as my second software. My primary software SSDE is becoming the best software ever.

I already felt the same as @SandyMcC is feeling right now about Cricut but @juliefes is 100% correct on this and we learned something very important today from her.

I too checked out their free software, and found it a most frustrating experience (I still have 2 Cricuts packed away, one has never been used). I have one very crafty friend who has stayed loyal to Cricut (because of the many, many cartridges she has and then purchased online files) and who has upgraded all along and recently to the latest Cricut cutter. She sighs frequently in frustration when we have our regular get togethers, where we all have our cutters with us, but feels she has committed so much money and time that she is stuck with Cricuts for the now. Its a big decision to step away from it.

@juliefes,  that makes sense now. I misunderstood, from your prior post, how much you were now using Design Space for your own needs. When you're an affiliate seller of so many different cutter-related products, you need to invest in Cricut products to reach a Cricut market.
