HELP...Error message

yensid74yensid74 Member Posts: 5
I'm a long time lurker on this sight. I have been using the last version of MTC that was compatible with the machine that shall not be named. Today I am getting an error message that I have to upgrade to a newer version. This is happening on files I cteated in MTC. I know I can't use the new MTC files because I am no longer updating, but I don't understand why I can't open files I created. This error does not occur on all my files. For example there is a card I created in 2012 that gives me an error, but I can open the Christmas card I created in 2015. I am not sure why it is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, not sure why this is happening as it is outside my knowledge.  @SandyMcC or @juliefes should be able to enlighten you and one or other should be along sometime today.  I thought the old MTC would import svg, also Julie can explain how to have both an old version running and a new version on the same machine so that you can design in the latest and export and import in the old version for cutting purposes.

Sorry! But I don't own nor support the "machine that shall not be named."  Hopefully, Julie or someone else here can explain why you can only open certain files. That doesn't make any sense but perhaps I'm missing something.

@yensid74 - I don't recall when, but there was a time when one particular version of MTC, where the .mtc files that it created were not backwards compatible. I do not recall when that was, unfortunately, but I do recall Bryan warning about this in some of the webinars.

I have several versions of MTC installed on my computer...it's just a matter of choosing a different install path for each one, and you can find the instructions on that right here in the forum.

Sorry for taking so long to come back and thank you for your responses. How can run two versions on my computer?
