Why does everything have to go through the yahoo thing? I am not trying to be difficult, but I have never been able to access that. I have tried for a couple of years. Did everything it said to do and still cannot make it work. You post so many wonderful tutorial ideas but they are not accessable for me. I just wondered if there was a reason they could not be posted here. Thank you for all the help you do here in make the cut.

@juliefes - wow! I just went through your first tutorial. I appreciate all of the details you added. Your tutorials and @SusanBluerobot 's videos are making a huge impact on the learning curve speed. Thank you!

@ejtreat I need to be able to keep all of the tutorials in a single location where I can organize them and get to them quickly for updating when that is needed. Posts here in the Forum get lost in the shuffle, and there is no way to keep them in any kind of order. I get extremely frustrated with the new Yahoo and all of their glitches and lack of support, but the groups work better for my purposes with the tutorials. Thanks for your understanding.

Thank you Julie. Look forward to giving it a try here later today.

@ejtreat, Julie's tutorials are done by her for her own use. However, she chooses to voluntarily provide them for FREE to others who might like them as well. She is just a regular MTC (and now PCS) user like you and me. She does a lot of "volunteer help" (same as Susan, Bryan and others) to help out with the programs. Her only payment (if any is when someone buys MTC or PCS now through her affiliate links.) As a result, these are not "official" MTC tutorials but her own. As a result, she chooses to keep them organized and easily located via the Yahoo Groups she has set up. This also allows for her to update them quickly and efficiently without having to track down "multiple copies" posted and shared elsewhere as well. I understand that, I hope you can too.

Now, all that said. If you will let someone know (either here on the forum or maybe email Julie at her email listed in her signature line above) where you seem to hit a snag with the Yahoo groups then maybe we can help you get it setup so you too can access the materials she provides. Clearly, something has to be missing in the process for you since hundreds if not thousands access her Yahoo groups and tutorials all the time. If you would like some help sorting through that, let us know.

Fantastic tutorial, Julie! Thank you so much for the very clear instructions and your time in putting it together.

@juliefes Thank you for the tutorial. Between your work and @SusanBluerobot I think I will be able to get the hang of PCS.

For those of you who are having trouble with yahoo groups. You can set it so that you just visit the groups online. All you need to remember is your yahoo id. I do not know what it is but certain emails seem to have problems with yahoo groups. I have run into that a few times with the group that I moderate. And I was irritated with the changed to yahoo groups as well...it seems that they are getting it ironed out.
Another tip is to make sure that the compatibility view is turned off in IE as that will hang up the loading of files and pictures.

@efghaus, I hate, hate, hate the Yahoo Groups thing, but, for this, I have just fought my way through it and applied to register, now I will just have to wait and see if it worked, fingers crossed.

@juliefes hope to hear from you, if it worked that is?

Dang obviously I haven't been on yahoo groups lately as it took me a while to figure it out, but I think I requested to join the new group. I hope. LOL!

  • MeFlickMeFlick Posts: 6,186Member
If you don't already have a yahoo account, you will need to set that up and then go to yahoo groups and find the pcs_tuts group and request membership (Julie's link in her first post should help you get there). If you already have a Yahoo account, then you would just go to the groups, find the pcs_tuts group and request membership.

How I hate Yahoo. All I want to do is get hold of the new Pop Up Card Studio written tutorial and, with Yahoo, it seems impossible. Can anyone help please? Thanks so much.

I have to approve all members in order to keep spammers out, so please allow 24 hours for that approval once you submit your request to join. It probably won't take that long, as I check the group all hours of the day and night, but I am not on there 24 hours a day. Hope to see you there!

@juliefes good tutorial on the basics, Thanks. One thing that I am fuzzy on is that ctrl D command - I do not think
you covered that in the 2 tutorials and what it does - I think it has something to do with being able to turn the corner and working on perpendicular planes. It so much easier to work in 2 dimensions, 3 is going to be challenge. I am also not so organized as far as working back to front, so I find I have to cut the objects I am working on so that I reposition and paste them on different planes cause I do not like where they are in z. It was so much easier to move them around when I was just working in x and y and I could just drag them with the mouse.

@ leslie6111 Typing D when in select mode takes you to the correct plane for that shape.

I am having the same exact problem as Nancy_Cre8tiveCutz. I even tried the using the audio code. I am familiar with Yahoo Groups and am on several, so this is not new to me.

Yeah yahoo groups isn't my favorite. I use it when I have to ask questions but otherwise it's just not convenient. It feels like a dinosaur. I don't mean the group itself, which is awesome, I mean yahoo's setup. People on embird and my embroidery machine use it too, just wish I liked it better.

Thanks for making the tutorial, Julie!
