Yes, we've got another challenge. This time to get your ready for Valentine's Day.
Here are the rules: Challenges must be completed within the time frame of the challenge. You must use the attached file, any cutter machine, and MTC, of course. You can embellish as you like. The winner will be selected by random number draw. Join us for the fun and create something special for your sweetheart! :x
Our prize this time is being sponsored by http://www.thedigibistro.com/store/ They are having a sale from the Jan 21 - 24 and will be adding some new Valentine sets. Be sure to stop by to check out their stuff!
Wandeezy at the top it says you must use MTC for the challenge but no one can stop you from grabbing the file and making a basket :) oops my bad, I see it is a MTC file.
Is this only for the MTC program or can I use it for the SCAL program too?
The rules of the challenge are specific in that you need to use MTC in order to participate. It just makes sense that the file is in MTC format. The challenge, the free files provided for it and the purpose of the forum is to encourage the use of MTC. Also the files cannot be converted (legally and morally) to svgs without direct permission of the creator.
I will be the first to post my project. I used MTC to cut out the basket and the letters. The flower pot in the center of the heart is a stamp from Archivers which I colored and then cut out.
I love Cher and her designs too! As to her website, there are actually two different ones. She is having some site problems at the moment and is working on taking care of those.
Here is mine! I will be adding a sentiment, just not sure what yet. I ran out of the light shade of brown cardstock. All I had left was this darker brown. That's why I went with a darker theme. It does look nice in person. I'll have more photos on my blog.
Here's mine. I used a double sided cardstock for the main basket, the button strip was a pre-punched coordinate in the same paper pack (Peabody Scrap Pad, from K&Company). I made the handle a bit wider.
The flower was cut from another paper pack (Simply Delightful from My Mind's Eye). I got the file from the gallery, cut, tooled, sprayed with glimmer mist and attached it all with a tiny brad. I decided I didn't like the look with the brad, so I cut out a button from the scrap of the button strip, and shaped and glued it on. Leaves were cut from scrap pieces from that Peabody pad.
This is such a cute basket - I think I will be making more. Thank you for the file and the challenge.
I did get the link fixed above. Not sure why it didn't work but it should now.
Wow Reba and Michelle, what a great way to get us started. I had a special birthday gift and card to get ready for Monday, so I didn't get mine started yet.
Love the look of both of them! -bold and contrast, and sweet and pink! I think I might do these for my kids. Thanks Becki for the great file! Let the fun begin!
@grannyss1 Your basket is making me crave conversation hearts!!! Yummy! So fun!
@Wandeezy We do share a lot of free files here on the forum. It might be worth the investment to buy MTC just even for that alone. That doesn't even take into account just how awesome of a program it is. We have posted these in a MTC file format because the challenges are for those who come here and use the program. We hope it will be something that you'll consider. We have an incredible year of challenges, all with sponsored prized for the whole year. We'd love to have you join us!
Love the lace strip, that is pretty paper. Nice flower also. Love it!
Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. I know I will be making more of them. Thanks for creating the file for this challenge Becki aka @Adonijah
You three have gotten us off to a great start, the baskets are lovely! MichelleMyBelle the lady bug bear is just tooo cute! I always enjoy seeing all the pretty papers and creative takes of each individual.
Everybody's baskets look great! Can't wait to start (after this cold).
You guys are welcome for the file! It was my first time designing something that was 3D. Surprisingly, it didn't take me that long and only had to throw one mock up away. LOL
Here is my entry. I combined print and cut, emboss and cut, and punch and cut. I also included instructions in the file for how I did the punch and cut. Thank you Becki for the wonderful challenge and file. I hope you don't mind that I modified it slightly.
For my heart shaped box I traced on the design with the perfect pearls pen with my machine and then added the perfect pearls powder. I used vellum to give the birds a 3D effect.

WOW these are all so gorgeous!! I cant wait to try it.. justlaury I love the alteration on yours and thank you for allowing us to try your file as well.. I think this will be what I make for my coworkers for sure!
It seems like I get addicted easily. This is my second one of these baskets (but I don't think we can enter the challenge twice, right?). This one needs something else, but I don't know what. I wish I had used a glittery top paper.
Ok....I decided to play....here is my entry....this was a quick easy project and I used the rhinestone feature for the first time and then edited it so that I didn't have them on the bottom of the shape. It was fun. I also made a layer with the lattice feature since everyone's projects were so cute, but decided on my project, it was getting too busy so I didn't add it. Overall, these are cute and I'm going to make 2 more for my hubby and kids for Valentine's Day....cute to hold some little treats. :-) Thanks for the file and the challenge!
Ok..all I can say is will all you over achievers not post until the last hour of the challenge so we will all do a basket! lol All of these baskets are great so far. Darlene
I think everyone can do it - go back and edit your post. Go to the image of the page, and right click on insert image, then select copy link address. Now paste the address into your message.
Made a few changes from my first basket and cut out the doves just enough so I could fold the wings back and make a luminary. Guess I am hooked on these valentine baskets :)

I have mine done and decided to add a little bling to it. I did an open heart chain for the handle and ran some zebra ribbon through it to match the base sides. Fun basket and a nice size too to hold something special!

I like the way you did the word "love" and I like the stamp you used. With the heart ribbon it all ties in nicely!

I am learning to do a little more than just cut and assemble. The flower was a stretch for me :) When I see other projects, it helps to inspire me.

@Justlaury 's basket reminded me of a file I designed and shared last year. http://forum.make-the-cut.com/discussion/11378/another-valentine-doily#Item_1
I adapted it for this basket. Shoot, it looks like the file is gone from that old post, too. I hope our forum gets fixed soon.

The forum is allowing us to upload the files - they just are not showing up. For images we need to insert it. For files, we need to copy the URL address to the message. The link to the download will look like this:
