Help!!! Good evening MTC/Creating Fans: I think I saw this discussion several days ago; but I can't find it now and I did not read it because my cricut was not frozen at that time. How Do I Un-freeze My Cricut E? I'm using XP Pro. I restarted the pc did not help then I reconnected the usb, still did not work I also turned the Cricut off and back on several times...

    What firmware are you using?

Shutting the cricut off and back on should unfreeze it regardless but you need 2.34 firmware to use it with mtc.

CaseysAngel, Sorry I forgot to add I have version 2.34 firmware for the Cricut E.

Okay your firmware is right then.

And turning it off and on doesn't unfreeze it? What do you mean by freeze. Is it an error message in MTC?

I'm wondering if you are on the wrong port. Can you capture the error you are getting and post it please

MTC and Cricut E was working fine until I unplugged the usb. My cricut is across the room my office is 9ft wide less space with the office desk file cab}} thus I often unplug it for a spell so I can work without it being in my way.

If you are SURE you are running 2.34 then I think you are on the wrong com port.

    Try this:
    1. click cut project with and make SURE you are on the Cricut and not a different cutter
    2. Check your COM port that you are on once you are in the cricut cut window. Make sure the port that is selected says USB port. If not change it to the one that is (you will need the cricut on in order for the port to show up in this box)

Everytime you unplug your cutter and then plug it back up the port changes.

CaseysAngel, Thank you!!!!! It's working now. Had to turn in last night long day. Don't understand your last line. Do I always choose the same port selection (on my end) or does it change? Sorry I didn't notice if the working port changes back and forth due to unplugging the USB connection or just starting a new project. I guess it was my cricut's way of telling me bed time; 'Cause I would have stayed up several more hours. I am really good at those lol type things... Blessings

you will always use the same COM Port , and mtc should hold it for you, UNLESS you unplug the usb from the computer. Then you might but 9 times out of 10 that number is gonna change. that's what got you this time.LOL

If you only have one USB port in there (I have multiple cutters so I have multiple usb ports) then it will always be the one that says USB port regardless of the COM number showing.

    Have fun cutting!!!
EDIT: I"ve marked this as resolved and moved it to the resolved category for you.

    you bet honey.

Btw, I didn't realize you had a cougar. Just read that on the other thread. Why in this world would you be messing with the cricut if you have a cougar?LOL I LOVE LOVE LOVE my cougar. My E just sits until my 8 year old wants to use it.LOL

hi, maybe you can help me then? i've bought a cricut create, and it's stuck on update mode. i've tried turning it off and on, tried the reset button and still nothing.. still in update mode, which is quite frustrating, coz it didnt update anyway. any help would be fantastic! i've already emailed cricut support and have yet to hear back from them. i want this problem so desperately fixed

Sometimes you have to do the process 5 or 6 times - it is a problem with the cricut and the software (poor Provo craft quality again). Hope you get it fixed.

In the meantime, uninstall MTC (save your cricut plug-in!!!) from your computer. PC will want to take control of your computer and if they do, they will blame everything on MTC. Of course, it is not MTC's fault but they will blame anything else that they can!

Im having the same problem I have my firmware at 2.31 if i update to the 2.34 will i still be able to cut with mtc? How do I update without disign studio?

Holly - you can download the trial version of Design Studio from PC's website and use the trial version to update your cricut (I assume it is an Expression) to firmware version 2.34. This should be the firmware version you are at if you are cutting with MTC and a Cricut Expression. What version of MTC are you using?
